Makeup isn't a way of escape for the supposedly beauty deficient seeking a chance to look preety. It isn't marely an act of sticking on colours on a human pallette... It is an art, it is a science, it is the math of beauty.
Makeup is knowing you have preety eyes and using the right colours and angles to flatter it.
It is consisely examining facial angles and getting a perfect contour to bring out facial features.
Makeup is knowing the charm of the lips and using the right colours and contours to fit in the perfect pout.
It is calculative, taking the mood, the occasion, the personality, the environment, of the person in question into consideration
It is powered by colours. To brighten up the face and artistically glorify it with the right choice of colours for the persons skin tone, colours that give depth and colours that make shallow to acheive the desired effect.
I believe makeup is an expression of beauty and should not be viewed otherwise.
Its makeup when @ the aisle, the grooms eyes get teary as his beautiful bride walks down to meet him, he can see that his regular angel has become competition to the fairy tale princesses and he is assured that he made the right choice to marry a beautiful lady who will make beautiful babies with him.
Its makeup when that 'plain' girl steps out and heads turn @ the aura of sophistication she bears.
Its makeup when an idea is passed across, when small eyes are made larger for dramatic effects, when a designer is able to pass across the message of her new collection by the face of her model, when a video vixen is able to transform from shy to sexy just by brush and pallete action. When a movie director and costumer realise that to complete whatever look they want their actors to play they need to facially align the character to the role, etc
The art of makeup is for the creative, intelligent and calculative. Its a delicate art as its the only one that directly deals with the human face so prior knowledge of skin typing and skin care is absolutely necessary. Choosing the right make up products to bring out the desired end .you need to know where to add and where to subtract, where to darken and where to shed light.
Makeup is fun!!!! Its not necessarily vain, instead of fighting against makeup I think we should fight against those that abuse it and try to paint it as what its not... Don't get it twisted, makeup is a beautiful thing *winkkk*
